Ranks

The requirements for each rank are located in the Scout Handbook.  For the First Class rank, there is also an additional First Class review that is held in conjuction with insturctor certification, which is on this website. Completed rank requirements can only be certified by a patrol leader, the SPL or an Adult Leader

Once all of the requirements for a rank have been achieved.  The Scout must schedule a time with the Scoutmaster for a review session, called the Scoutmaster conference. If the Scoutmaster feels the Scout is ready, he will refer the Scout to the Commitee for a Board of Review.  No member of a board of review can be related to the Scout.

If the committee agrees that the Scout has met the requirements for that rank he will be immediately advanced to that rank.

A Scout must be a considered an Active Scout within the Troop to be eligible for a Board of Review.

A complete Field Uniform is required for Tenderfoot and Second Class Boards of Review. A complete Dress Uniform is required for First Class, Star, Life, and Eagle Boards of Review.

Merit Badges

When a scout wishes to earn a merit badge he must talk with the Scoutmaster who will work with him and the troop advancement chair to assign a merit badge counselor.

Merit Badge Counselors must be registered with the district and qualified to teach the badge. The troop keeps a list of registered counselors. A parent who is a registered counselor is authorized to teach any Scout, including their own children.

The Scout then works with the merit badge counselor to complete the badges requirements. At no time will any Scout meet with a merit badge counselor alone. Always bring a buddy or parent and meet in a public place if possible.

Upon completion, the scout presents the completed merit badge materials to Scoutmaster, who will also sign the merit badge form.
